Diurna One follows the course of daylight where you are. Cool and clear in the morning, warm and low at night. No app, no menu, no screen — the lamp knows what day it is.

Turn for brightness, press for on and off. That is all there is. The knurled ring runs on a brass bearing with a deliberate resistance — the kind of detail you only notice when it is missing.

The shade
Light without an edge.
The shallow shade emits through an opal glass diffuser rather than a point source. That gives a pool of light with a soft edge instead of a hard circle — and no glare when you look up.
We have unlearned that light has a time of day.
A lamp that gives off the same cold white at ten at night as at noon tells the body it is still early. Diurna One does not. It knows your latitude and the position of the sun, and it shifts its colour across the day so slowly that you never notice — only that the evening becomes calmer.
The day
It sets itself.
On first use you give it your location, once. From then on Diurna One calculates sunrise and sunset for every day of the year on its own. No account, no connection, no updates — astronomy does not change.
Who it is forThree ways of working.
Colours stay what they are. A print proof looks the same at night as it did in the morning, so no decision has to wait for tomorrow.
Below 2,200 K the lamp works with almost no blue. The evening stays an evening, even when the desk is not yet clear.
In the boxFour parts, no tools.
The box is unbleached greyboard, with no plastic and no foam. Assembly takes about two minutes: set down the base, thread in the stem, seat the shade, plug in the cable.
